Last summer I made these adorable sweatpants for Cyra.. as we've gotten older.. and taller.. they still fit in the bottom.. but not in the length. So I sewed little tabs and made them into cropped pants.. You can do this to practically any pant.. here is the template I used..
You'll need 4 buttons (mine did not match) and scrap fabric..
1. cut out 8 tabs.. using the template
2. place the tabs right side together.. and sew around the edge, leaving the square end open.
3. trim the corners, turn tab right-side out and press..
4. use the template to determine the placement of the button hole.. add the button hole
5. fold pants to desired length and press.
6. I then sewed the button directly to the pant and the tab.. the button hole is really just there for looks.. I worried that they would come undone.. this way they stay cropped on an active 2 year old..
