endless plans for furniture you can build for your little ones.
here is a simple and quick table cloth I finished up for cyra's new picnic table.. no sewing required!
you'll need:
scissors
fray block (you should be able to find this at any sewing supply shop)
fabric.. for this I used just one yard
download the scalloped pattern
measure the cloth to the desired size and cut. To do this.. I laid the yard of fabric on the table and decided how far I wanted the edges to hand so they looked right.
then I drew a quick pattern of a scalloped edge.. you can download my pattern or draw your own. Next.. pin and trim all around the edges.
then I used fray block to coat the edges.. Using this will allow the edges to keep their shape and avoid fraying... will also allow you to wash the table cloth. Be sure to follow the directions on the label.. you'll need to run the tube under hot water for a couple minutes to activate the adhesive. Once the edges are dry.. you can trim any fraying edges to make it look neater.
at this point.. you can add trim.. lace, or even add a decorative stitch around the edges to dress it up..
bye, bye... time to go make a picnic!
