framed chalkboard tee

a few months ago, i appliqued chalkboard fabric onto a t-shirt for cyra when my brother saw the blog post, he asked for one as well.. it's taken me six months to actually do so here it is.. I did both applique and reverse applique for this shirt. I thought it would be sweet to frame the chalkboard. So I initially appliqued the shirt with the frame, then stitched the chalkboard onto the shirt.. once it was all stitched, I trimmed away the tee.. here are additional photos on how I did this with a t-shirt a couple months ago ... so another christmas present complete!

of course when i got an email from Alternative asking for photos of us showing off our summer style in their gear.. i emailed a photo of cyra wearing her chalkboard tee.. i'm a boasting mom, i know.

chalboard tee

I embellished this sweet alternative apparel tee last week..
using chalkboard fabric bought here as soon as i have a free moment.. I'll have a couple up on etsy..
You can use this idea to sew onto practically anything.. a bag, pillow, apron..

upcycled chalkboard pillow

so we buy rice in bulk.. and i usually hold onto the fancy rice bags for a rainy day craft.. so I made this pillow for outside.

I used chalkboard fabric purchased here and cording left over from this project.

You can also use old coffee bags.. which are easy to find on ebay. this would be a great idea for a playroom.. doing both sides in chalkboard fabric or even alternating with fun fabric that matches your room decor.. a sweet idea to allow your kids or guests to draw on the furniture!
