so if you haven't already figured it out.. i'm a neat fanatic. one of the many things that make me happy is seeing everything in order.. and I find that I am way more productive when I know where things usually are.. so I thought I'd share a couple ways that I keep my creative space organized without spending too much money.
for embroidery floss I used to use a small plastic container which very quickly turned into this..
so I bought some clothes-pins and it's no longer a tangled frustrating mess.. I don't really do embroidery patterns.. so have not use to keep the floss color codes.. but you could easily use a marker to write the color codes on each clothes-pin
I sew in our guest room, so I like to keep my notions hidden in a small closet. I saw this idea in a magazine a couple years ago.. but have misplaced it.. so I can't tell you which one.. but it's an easy enough to describe.
I went to a local hardware store and had a peg-board cut to the size I wanted it.. then purchased wooden wall molding to make a frame. I was lucky enough to have the sales guys at the hardware store cut the molding for me.. at home depot and lowes.. my experience has been that if you ask them to help you with cutting wood.. they are happy to help (I think it also helped that I had my hands full with cyra at the time). Then purchase a couple packs of hooks and hangers for the peg board.. this probably cost me 30$ plus I was able to hang my thread racks with some of the hooks.
I hung this on the inside of the door.. so when I'm done with sewing.. everything gets tucked away from little wondering hands that may want to explore.
